Rufus Burns Obituary
Rufus "Lynn" Burns
PEMBROKE — Rufus "Lynn" Burns, 47, of 796 Prospect Road, died Feb. 17, 2016, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Revels Funeral Home Chapel Pembroke. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Lynn was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rufus "Goodson" Jr. and Ola Sampson Burns; a sister, Karen "Mook" Burns Privette; a brother, Phillip Locklear; his paternal grandparents, the Rev. Rufus and Avie Burns; his maternal grandparents, Warren and Cattie Hunt Sampson; and a niece, Jessica Ramsey.
Rufus leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Tina Lynne Chavis-Burns; five children, Terra Chavis, Ashley Oxendine, Tiane, Tralyn and Tralena Burns, all of Pembroke; two sisters, Sharon Kay Burns Deese of Pembroke, and Wanda Burns Ramsey (Calvin) of Angier; a brother-in-law, Bill Privette of Pembroke; five grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a special caretaker, Dennis "Eddie Wayne" Dial; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Revels Funeral Home Pembroke.
