A graduate of Akron High School, Candi furthered her education at Purdue University, equipping herself with the skills that would serve her throughout her life. Her professional journey began as a secretary for Tri State Feeding and Storage, where her diligence and hard work were evident. However, her true passion lay in nurturing and managing her household and farm, and co-owning Silver Hills Farm with her husband, Rick. Together, they raised quarter horses, a pursuit that brought them immense joy.
Candi's life was rich with memories, especially her cherished union with Rick Newell, whom she married on Sept. 19, 1996, in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Their partnership was rooted in mutual respect and shared interests, particularly in their creative endeavors with their business, O're the Hill Design. Together, they showcased their craftsmanship at various festivals, where Candi's artistic talents flourished through her love for crafting, sewing, painting and various projects.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Candi was well known for her strong will and determination. Her love for animals was boundless, and she found joy in caring for them, regardless of their kind. Growing up, Candi was an active member of the Fulton County 4-H and the Horse and Pony Club. She shared her passion for animals and instilled values of responsibility and respect for nature in those around her.
The loving memory of Candace "Candi" Newell will be forever cherished by her stepsons, John (Amy) Newell and Brian (Teresa Enyeart) Newell, both of Silver Lake; close friend Jon Michael (Lanie) McGuire, Silver Lake; grandchildren Ashley, Isaiah, Abby, Catrina; and great-grandson, Kayden.
