Cornelia S. Moore, 92, of Akron, passed at 9:18 a.m., Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Connie was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Chicago,to the late Cornelius and Winnie (Kelderhouse) Sterk. On Oct. 23, 1958, she married Norman W. Moore Sr. in Akron. They shared many years together before his passing Aug. 8, 2011.
A devoted homemaker, Connie also spent more than 30 years working for Torrington, later known as Lau Industries, before retiring. She was a member of the Akron United Methodist Church, where she had attended regularly with her sister.
Connie found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. She loved playing cards with family, working on puzzles, and tending to her garden and flowers. Family gatherings, especially reunions, were among her greatest pleasures. She had a caring spirit and enjoyed looking after others, sharing Sunday morning coffee, shopping trips, and time spent outdoors. She was an avid bird watcher and cherished her collections of cardinals and roosters.
She is survived by her children Chris and wife Debra Moore of Akron, Sheryl and husband Scott Bilby of Akron, and Mona and husband Kevin Waller of New Haven; daughters-in-law Newanna Moore of Akron and Paula Moore Thomas of Rochester; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was also survived by sister Wilma Belsan of Brookfield, Illinois, and brothers Robert (Sharon) Sterk of Sevierville, Tennessee and Lee (Leta) Sterk of Rochester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman (2011); sons Ronald G. Moore (1978), Norman Moore Jr. (2012), and Mark Robert Moore (2025); brothers John, Herman, Charles, Richard, and Bert; and sisters Nellie Mosher, Carrie Koster, Margaret Tromp, Dorothy Sterk, Nancy Sterk, and Bernice Brown.
The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, Indiana.
The interment will take place following the service in the Akron Cemetery, Akron.
Visitation hours will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, Indiana.
