Arthur McClendon Obituary


Arthur E. (Mac) McClendon, 88, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008, in Conyers, GA. Mr. McClendon was born on June 17, 1920 in Mansfield, GA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, Company "L", 19th infantry during World War II. He was present at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1942. He was a charter member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church, Conyers and served faithfully for 39 years. Mr. McClendon was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lillian McClendon; brothers Joel McClendon and Edgar McClendon; sister, Nellie Aaron; daughter, Dianne McClendon. He is survived by sons, Wayne and wife Mickey of Ocean Springs, MS, Dennis and wife Julia of Conyers, Craig of Duluth; sisters, Ellie Forrester of Decatur, Lucille McGaughey of Mansfield, and Elizabeth Ozburn of Covington; grandchildren Jenny Farmer, Tracy Lyles, Erin McClendon, Alan McClendon, Jamie Ross, Christi Baldwin, Blake McClendon, Clay McClendon, Alexis McClendon; 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. at Scot Ward Chapel, Conyers, GA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 1 P.M. at Heritage Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Hughes officiating. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Heritage Hills Baptist Church, Conyers, GA. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com. There are 43 known of us left in State of Georgia,
I was Secretary of the N Ga Chapter when PHSA
Memorial was erected in the National Cemetary in Marietta
in the fall of 1996. We did not have your mailing address.
Right now there are 500 or more in the US who association
lost track of. We hope some of your family will contact us to

What an awesome man from the first time I met him 30 years ago to the last time I saw him at Clays Police academy graduation, our love and prayers are with you always. it is comforting to know Mr. and Mrs. Mac will be together again, love always
