Gordon Davenport Obituary

Gordon Craig Davenport, aged 59, of Social Circle, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was born on January 20, 1966 in Newton County, Georgia, to the late Yvonne Mathis Crowe and the late Johnny Gordon Davenport.

Craig leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Denise Dailey Davenport; son, Adam Davenport; daughter, Kayli Parks (Ryan); grandchildren, Kenli Parks and Kaydin Parks; brothers, Donnie Davenport (Kelley), Marshal Davenport (Jill), and Phil Phillips (Wendy); sister, Deneen Plunkett (Stephen); step mother, Laverne Davenport; mother-in-law, Bobbie Jean Haney; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He loved his wife, Denise, more than anything in this world. She was his person, and he was hers. They were truly best friends who did everything together. The love they shared was something special - the kind of love most only dream of.

He was so proud of his children and the adults they've grown to be. He loved being in the shop with his son, Adam, building things side by side and sharing that special bond only a father and son could have. He loved watching his daughter, Kayli, grow her own family and never missed a moment of it. He was always just one call away, and she was without a doubt his daddy's girl.

His grandbabies were his heart and soul. He was their biggest fan, and they were his pride and joy. He loved watching Kenli cheer on the sidelines, spoiling her rotten, and letting her talk him into just about anything - even painting his toes. He loved watching Kaydin on the ballfield, sitting front row for every game, giving pep talks and sharing their special hand signs. Some of their sweetest memories were made lying on the couch while he rubbed Kaydin's feet or back - moments that usually ended with laughter and a little wrestling.

He was so proud of the life and legacy he built with his wife. He was a true man of God who loved going to church every Sunday, lifting his hands high and praising his Lord and Savior.

He was a die-hard Georgia Bulldog through and through and loved being part of the Bulldawg Bluff Gang with his wife - tailgating, cheering on his Dawgs, and making memories with their closest friends.

He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who knew him. His heart was pure, his love was fierce, and his presence will be missed beyond measure. He truly was one of a kind.

A Memorial Service was held at 11:00am, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at West End Baptist Church. Pastor Craig Hudgins and Pastor Danny Harrell both took part in officiating the service.

The Davenport family requested that all attendees wear their UGA Gameday Best, in memory of Craig.
