Rufus Parnell Obituary
He was an Army veteran, serving honorably with the 82d Airborne Division. His life's work was in construction and project management, working for the University of Georgia Physical Plant for more than a decade.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, W.A. and Fannie Mae Parnell, of Covington, Ga.; and his brothers, Thomas R. Parnell and James Parnell.
He is survived by his wife of 51 wonderful years, Andrea Hudson Parnell; daughter, Lynn Parnell; daughter, Vanessa Parnell; son, Dan McGirt; daughter, Kyla Kiddle and son-in-law Wayne Kiddle; his three grandchildren, Melony Mosley, Melissa Brewer, and Jack Passman; three great-grandchildren, Jada Krusinski, Brittani Cole, and Logan Mosley; brother, Larry Parnell (Catherine), their children Lori Adamson and Monty Parnell; niece, Glenda Steinbacher; and extended family members.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Parnell was held Friday, July 28, 2023, 2:30 P.M., at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, in Canton, with Rev. Jim Hollis officiating. Friends were invited to visit with the family, Thursday, July 27, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
