William Charles "Bill" Norris

Bill Norris went home to the Lord and his late wife Kay (White) on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 quietly before breakfast at Northside Hospital Gwinnett. He had 4 great loves in his life: his family, his friends, his gunsmithing, and his country. A proud member of American Legion Post 77, he served in the Georgia National Guard as a young man in the 1960s. In his retirement years, he became a gunsmith. He built up quite a solid reputation and following, earning the respect of many peers in his field. He had a large family and was the oldest of his mother's 5 children. Later in life, he would come to learn about other family members on his father's (Rossano) side, but sadly did not get the chance to meet them. Bill truly believed in not only blood- family loyalty, but also chosen-family.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Kay. He is survived by his only child, Alecia Dressel (David), three grandchildren Will Dressel, Michael-Reid Dressel, and Casey Dressel-Tice (TJ); his siblings Carla Prater, Arlene Gordon (Fritz), Albert Ellis, and Denise Morris (Randy). There are numerous neices, nephews, and greats. Bill also claimed several "chosen" relatives, including, but not limited to his former granddaughter-in-law Rachel Dressel, bonus-sister Valerie Mcneill, and his "claimed" daughters, AKA very dear friends of Alecia, Mia Davis (Marx), Gail Saint, Mary Wright, and Renee Ashmore. There will not be a funeral service, as Bill hated them; instead the family and friends will have a Homegoing Dinner in December. In lieu of flowers, Bill would be best honored if you chose a donation in his and his wife Kay's name to Wellspring Animal Hospital Buddy Fund (Covington, GA) or a veterans' support group of your choosing.
