Dwight Delawder Obituary

Dwight David Delawder, 72, of Broadway, VA passed away October 5, 2025 at his residence. He was born November 1, 1952 in Hardy County, WV to the late Roy Franklin and Thelma Mae Dispanet Delawder. Dwight was a chicken catcher for Rockingham Poultry for 40 + years. He was a member of Crab Run Church of the Brethren. His wife, the former Ollie Mook, preceded him in death April 11, 2012. Dwight is survived by his stepchildren, Judy Smith of Quicksburg, Patricia Halterman of Broadway, Betty Smith of Rockingham, Norman Smith of Hinton; numerous step grandchildren; sisters, Linda Shifflett of Harrisonburg, Nancy Wilkins of Mathias, WV, Rebecca Whetzel of Bridgewater; brothers, Edgar, Cletis, and Kenneth Delawder, all of Broadway, Larry Delawder of Maryland, Arno Delawder of Timberville, Gary Delawder of Weyers Cave, Tommy Delawder of Mathias, WV. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Nancy Crider; stepson, Clyde Smith; sisters, Betty Freed, Lois Emerson; and brothers, Lee, Chester, Otis, and Lloyd Delawder. Dwight was cremated. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 19th at 2:00 PM at the Crab Run Church of the Brethren.
