Mary Elizabeth Hamlett

Mary Elizabeth Hamlett, 81, of Blairs, VA went home to be with her Lord on Friday, September 27, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Broadway, VA, she was a daughter of the late Albert Homer Yankey and Lucy Ellen Evans Yankey. Mary was married to Douglas Alderson Hamlett until his death. She worked as a telephone operator prior to her retirement. She was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending services. Mary is survived by her sister, Barbara Cox, and her husband, Richard, of Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Lee Yankey, and his wife, Joanne and Sidney Yankey, all of Broadway, VA; eight nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; one great-niece; two great-great nephews and two great-great nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister, Vonnie Smith and three brothers, Wayne, Grandville and Larry Yankey. Pastor Eric Wetzel will conduct a graveside service 11:00 A.M.
