Quinton Johnson Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Quinton Eugene "Big John" Johnson , a resident of Timberville, Virginia. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the age of 78. He drove for Pepsi Cola for many years where he developed his passion for the open road. Big John was known for his deep love and commitment to family. He also loved dancing with the love of his life Patsy Johnson, hunting, family gatherings, porch time, dances at the Moose as he was a life-long member and sharing many of his life stories. He also loved traveling the back roads, and knew better than anyone how to get from point A to point B up to the point of his trip in the ambulance to UVA due to construction delays. Only July 14, 1973, he married the love of his life, Patsy Johnson who preceded him in death on August 14, 2020. The celebrated 47 devoted years together. They spent much time dancing their way through life. Big John is survived by his brothers, Roy Johnson (Marie) and Marvin Johnson (Ruth). He is also survived by his children, Mike Rodriguez (Susan), Carla McDonough (Jim), Nancy Rodriguez (Ian), Dave Johnson (Carol) and Tamara Doublestein (Lonnie); grandchildren, Tesla Rodriguez (Tyler), Ethan Rodriguez (Jenna), Cabo Rodriguez, Elara Rodriguez, Wesley R. Mick (Julia), Nicole Shank (James), Joshua Plonsky, Alex Plonsky, Alina Plonsky, Courtney Johnson, Alexandria Hall, Dylan Johnson (Emily), Trenton Johnson (Sharon) and Devan DeVito (Jeremy) and ten great-grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly. Dad will always be a part of us on our drives home, our football gatherings and our many family gatherings to come. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. A celebration of life will also be announced in the near future for family and friends near and far…where we will partake from a mouth watering meal on the "Big Green Egg" (by Jim) and many of his other favorite dishes which he always looked forward to. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Big John by extending a simple act of kindness or a good deed toward someone in need.
