Ruth Smith Obituary

Ruth McPherson Smith, 95, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at White Birch Estates. She was born on August 24, 1930, and was a daughter of the late Millard and Neva (Blair) McPherson. Ruth was a proud member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cross-stitching and traveling, was deeply patriotic, and had a love of baseball. Ruth was united in marriage to Don E. Smith, Sr., who preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by grandchildren, Blair (David) Furman, and Danielle (Chris Partsch) Smith, great grandchildren, Katherine Furman, Caroline "Rosie" Furman, and James Furman; daughter-in-law, Faith N. Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Smith; sisters, Mary Horton, Margaret Gold, and Faye Griffis. No formal services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes. Online condolences may be shared with the family at johnsonfs.com.
