Stanley Lee Baker

Mr. Baker was born on August 31, 1930 in Shenandoah County, VA and was the son of the late Charles Lee Baker and Stella Funkhouser Baker.

He was employed as an accountant at the Department of Agriculture in the early years of his career and then retired from Heatwole Hatchery.

Stanley loved math, watching old westerns and reading the Bible. He loved the Lord and loved his family. He enjoyed spending vacations at the beach. He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene for well over 60 years. He was a church board member and a Sunday School Superintendent.

On June 27, 1952, he married the love of his life, Anna Turner and after 63 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on February 4, 2016.

Surviving family members to treasure Stanley's memory are a son, Dale Baker and wife, Cathy; two daughters, Kathy Lee and husband, Dan and Penny Shipe and husband, Timothy; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Joseph "Joe" Stoner officiating. A private burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

In keeping with Stanley's wishes, the casket will remain closed.
