Baker, Daniel Ray

82, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. Ray was born on September 21, 1943, at home in Lakeland, Florida to Fearbie and Desto William Baker, Sr. He was one of 14 children, raised in a large family that shaped his lifelong appreciation for storytelling and connection. Ray spent many years working as a long-haul truck driver, a career he genuinely loved. His journeys across the country allowed him to meet countless people and collect stories along the way. Known for his gift of storytelling, Ray could captivate any audience. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved spouse, Louise Baker; former spouse, Sarah; two of his children, Daniel Ray Baker Jr. of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Theresa Weaver of Spring City, Tennessee; and several brothers and sisters, including Princes, Desoto, Dorothy, Arnold, Calvin, Charles, Harry, Margaret, Melvin, and Vero. Ray is survived by his loving children, Tammy Marrero (Herbert) of Zephyrhills, Florida; Debra Baker of Wesley Chapel, Florida; and Ronald Baker (Genie) of Wesley Chapel, Florida. He is also survived by his sister. Opal Gierschke; his brothers, Roger Baker and Ralph Holder; and a large and loving extended family. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren: Amanda, Melissa, Nina, Nicole, Katelyn, Franny, Daniel, Reanna, Reba, Miranda, Kaylee, Billy, and Christine; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Visitation will begin at 1 pm, followed by the service at 2 pm.
