I can't begin to express the sadness that this news brings to Yvonne and myself. A dear friend since early 1970's.

Ed was more to me than a second cousin. He was a man of great character and I admired him very much. I am thankful that I got to spend some one on one time with him and Jack over the last several years. The world was a better place because of Ed Wilkes. He will be missed but I will see him again in glory. I pray for comfort for all of us who are his family and friends. We remember his life here and we rejoice that he is with Almighty God now and forever more.

I was blessed to be part of Mr. Wilkes life and met him shortly after his daughter was diagnosed. We spent many years, days and hours together and I would not trade one minute. I have many wonderful memories of the family and I cherish the time that we had together but I know that he is at peace and God has received a very special angel. My thoughts are with the family during this time.

Mr. Wilkes was a gentle soul and a true gentleman. During my years with Seaboard Coast Line, he was always available and offered support and guidance. He kept a sense of humor, even when times were not. I offer much gratitude to him for helping my career with the railroad.

Mr. Wilkes was a friend to everyone he touched, whether her was a coworker, a supervisor or a casual acquaintance. He epitomized the term "southern gentleman". I am fortunate to have known and served under him as an employee of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad.

How very sorry I am to hear of Ed's passing. What a beautiful man he was. I loved his visits at Ace Hardware. Always a smile on his face and Oh, how he loved his wife. He told me his story of re-uniting with his high school sweetheart. It made my heart just melt. He always looked for me to help him pick out the prettiest flowers for her. Every woman should be loved so much. What an amazing and dedicated man he was. I am so glad his suffering is over and I know God has wrapped his loving arms around him. I hope to meet you again in heaven Ed....you were so very special to me. Bruce I am so sorry for the emptiness he has left in your family's heart. Love to you all! To God be the Glory......Ed is home!
