Joseph H. Rackley Joseph H. Rackley, 83, passed away January 6, 2009. On May 2, 1925 God blessed the Rackley family and the earth by sending a very special son, Joseph Hillard Rackley. This son grew up to be a man that was loved and respected by his family and everyone that ever met him. On January 6, 2009 God called that now very special man home to be with him. When God called, Joe went and was met at the Pearly Gates by his mommy, Eva Pridgen Rackley and daddy, Navy Hillard Rackley, Sr., several brothers, sisters and daughter-in-law, Diane Ferrell Rackley. Joe leaves to cherish his memories his wife and the love of his life for 54 years, Lillian (Ma) Rackley of the home; son, Donald E. Rackley Sr.; daughter, Jo Ann Edmonds and husband Ralph Edmonds; son, Allen Rackley; brothers, Sonny Rackley and wife Mary Rackley, Bobby Rackley and wife Bea Rackley all from the Rocky Mount area; grandsons, Donald E. Rackley Jr, Brian Rackley, Jason Rackley, and Daryle Rackley and a very special great-grandson, Donald (Sport) Bryson Rackley; his pride and joy, Donnae Fulford and Christie Baker, and numerous nieces and nephews. One of Joe's biggest joys was just sitting around the house and spending time his family. Joe loved playing his CD's and listening to his music especially his oldies. Joe worked for over 25 years at the Rocky Mount Mills before starting Rackley's T.V. Service in the back of his house which today is a well known standalone business that is still ran by his son Donald Rackley, Sr. He was a lifetime member of the Improved Order of Red Men, Apacha Tribe #2. He was also a long time member of Faith Family Worship PH Church. The Rackley family will receive friends Friday, January 9, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 pm at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road. Funeral services will be held 12 pm Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Johnson's Chapel with Rev. Jerald Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
