Reba Gloria Davenport

PINETOPS - Reba Gloria Davenport, 79, of Pinetops, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of March 1, 2016 due to an extended illness. Born January 22, 1937 in Lebanon County, PA, she was the daughter of Ammon Putt Long and Anna Mae Resse (Reich). She was the wife of the late Herman Lee Davenport and they spent 26 years together before his death in October of 2014.

She spent the earlier part of her life living in Lancaster County, PA where she worked as a buyer for AMP, Inc., and it was here that she raised 8 of her 10 children. She was then transferred to North Carolina and was a buyer for Allied Bendix Research in Rocky Mount, NC. She was a long time member of the Faulkland Church of God where she loved to sing and worship. She had a huge heart and a giving nature and made many friends with her outgoing personality.

She is survived by 3 sisters, Lorraine Brenner, of Lititz, PA, Barbara Glant, of Mount Joy, PA, and Marilyn Jones, of Mount Vernon, KY; 10 children, Donnette Shoop (Lynn), of Pinetops, NC, Donald Fletcher (Bobbi Jo), of Pinetops, NC, Dwayne Fletcher (Gerlinde), of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Kevin Fletcher (Pam), of Sharpsburg, NC, Bonnie Pierce (Chris), of Pinetops, NC, Kathy Fletcher, of Pasadena, TX, Teresa Rife (Dale), of Elizabethtown, PA, Jeffery Fletcher (Vicky), of Tarboro, NC, Jason Landvator (Ginny), of Elm City, NC and Kimberly Davenport, of the home; 5 stepchildren, 42 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Terry Pierce and Damien Heisey; 4 brothers, Ammon Long, Arthur Long, Frank Long and John Long; 1 sister, Geraldine George.

She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive visitors at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 am, followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Tarboro, NC.
