Charlotte Vick Obituary

Mrs. Charlotte Cummings Vick, age 91, of Rome, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at a local assisted living facility.

Mrs. Vick was born in Rome on November 16, 1933, the daughter of the late Hoke Smith Cummings and the late Nina Ash Cummings. Charlotte chose to stay home and make a very special place for her husband and children. She was a lifelong member at First Baptist Church of Rome where she also taught Sunday School. She was involved in the Chieftains Historical Society, Spade and Trowel Garden Club and the Junior Service League. Charlotte was involved with The Darlington Mother's Club and the Darlington Boosters Club. She loved the beach, swimming at Coosa Country Club, tennis, feeding the hummingbirds and arranging flowers.

She is survived by her children, Mary Katherine Vick Fuller (Gregory Blair Fuller), Stephen Cummings Vick (Gina Welborn) and Dr. James Henry Vick III MD (Dina Vick); her grandchildren, Jessica Katherine Baker (David), Rebecca Lauran Clonts (Michael), Mary Blair Fuller, Dr. James Alexander Vick DVM, and Dr. Alea Nicole Vick DPT (Thai Khuong); her 5 great grandchildren; her brother, Larry W. Cummings (Gayle). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Vick, Jr. and her brother, Hoke Smith Cummings.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens at 2:00 pm with Rev. David Brooks and Rev. Gwen Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Rome on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 Noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Heyman Hospice, Riverwood Senior Living, or the First Baptist Church of Rome children's playground fund in honor of the 50 years Charlotte spent in serving the children of the church as Sunday School Director.

The Vick family would like to thank The Spires at Berry, Heyman Hospice and Riverwood Senior Living for their loving care of our Mom.

My name is Nancy Ross Gresham. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Charlotte and Larry. Fond memories of their Dad when he threw his voice. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was always dear to me.

When my oldest daughter was a baby at First Baptist twelve years ago, I always chatted with Mrs. Vick in the nursery. One day, she asked me, "Who delivered your baby?" I replied, "Oh, Dr. Vick, he's wonderful!" She literally BEAMED & said, "He's my son!" She was so proud of her family. I always enjoyed seeing her on Sunday mornings years ago when I was a new mom. She was such a treasure. Prayers for your family!
