Dennis Junior Callahan

Mr. Dennis Junior Callahan, age 62, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at a local hospital.

Dennis was born in Rome, Georgia on October 26, 1960, son of the late James Junior Callahan and the late Bobbie Jo McBurnett Dalrymple. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Fricks and Victora Pegg, and by a brother, Larry Dalrymple. Dennis attended Coosa High School. He dedicated his life to supporting his family by working for Suhner Manufacturing as a machine operator and he was a jokester. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and NASCAR, but his greatest joy came in spending time with his family, especially his daughters and grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Dean Grissom Callahan; two daughters, Julie Callahan Roberts (Scott "Boomer") and Shawna Denise Callahan; two grandsons, Tyler Callahan and Carson Roberts; a brother, James William Callahan (Bedella Bell); a sister, Kathie Underwood (James); an aunt, Rosa Lee Callahan; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. In accordance with his wishes, Dennis will be cremated following the funeral service.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1pm until 2:45pm.
