Ferrell Kerr Obituary

Ferrell Ottis Kerr, 76, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and daughter on Saturday June 11th, 2022 after an extended illness.

Ferrell was born to the late Ottis Vernon "Sam" Kerr and the late Navaughnia Ellis Kerr at McCall Hospital in Rome, Ga on Friday July 13th, 1945. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Casey Ferrell Kerr and infant sibling J Lamar Kerr.

Ferrell attended Cave Spring School until 1962 at the age of 17 when he joined the Navy. Ferrell served in the Navy on the USS Chickasaw (ATF-83) from 1962 until 1965. In 1965, Ferrell began work at Georgia Kraft/Inland Container as a Millwright and retired in 2007 as Head of Maintenance among other titles. In 1969, On August 16th Ferrell was married to Sandra Kay Rosser. They spent 53 years together, until his last breath.

Ferrell was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church and sang beautifully in the Gospel Quartet. He was a member of the Georgia Masons and was the pitcher for the Co-Ed softball teams for adults in Cave Spring and for the Paper Mill where he pitched a no-hitter in slow pitch. For years he volunteered at the Cave Spring Fire Department and coached little league teams. He had a passion and a great talent for the game of golf. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his four-wheeler. Ferrell had a 1974 Ford Bronco that he took great pride in driving and remodeling.

Ferrell was a hardworking family man who invested in those he loved. He had a great sense of humor for jokes, and you could be assured he absolutely liked you if he was picking on you. He was very talented with his hands and extremely artistic. He could build, fix, create, or draw anything he attempted.

Ferrell is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Kerr, his daughter, Bonnie Michelle Kerr, grandchildren, Cody Blaylock, Kayla Agan, Paige Kerr, and Elice (Ethan) Milliman. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Kinley Agan, Ava Agan, Ember Milliman, and Eliyahh Milliman. He is also survived by a sister Kathy Knight.

Funeral services for Mr. Kerr will be held Wednesday afternoon, June 15th, 2022, at 5pm at John House's Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Tommy Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at the Rehoboth Community Cemetery with the Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion presenting military honors. A reception will follow graveside services at Rehoboth Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at John House's Cave Spring Chapel Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
