John Penny Obituary
Mr. Penny was born in Floyd County, GA, on April 17, 1963, son of the late Jim Penny and the late Mary Wood Penny. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Nancy Gail Pierce and Dottie Robinson. Mr. Penny was a graduate of Cave Spring High School. His life's mission was to serve. Mr. Penny had been a part of Cave Spring Fire Department since he was 14 years old and also worked for the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department for over 19 years. Most recently he served as a EMT for Advent Health-Redmond. Mr. Penny loved hunting, fishing and cutting grass, but nothing compared to the joy his grandson, Landon, brought him. He was a hard worker who never sat down, was quick to crack a joke and was always drinking his coffee.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Diane Floyd Penny, Cave Spring, GA, to whom he was married on March 3, 1984; 2 sons, Jeramy Penny (Cassie), Cedartown, and Justin Penny, Cave Spring; a grandson, Landon Penny, Cedartown; 3 siblings, Debra Evans, Joyce Highfield and Hank Penny (Sheila); brother-in-law, John Ed Robinson; numerous nieces, great-nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Brett Clements, the Rev. Buddy Floyd and the Rev. Chad Penny officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: active, Landon Penny, Cade Wheeler, Jameson Barclay, James McKnight, Jarrod Thornton, Ken Bruce, Bradley Rogers and Darren Peek; honorary, members of the Cave Spring Fire Department, the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department, and Redmond EMS.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of funeral arrangements.

So sorry to hear about John's passing. We were classmates from 6th grade until we graduated in 1982. He was always a sweet guy. I think I remember his laugh the most.

John was a kindhearted soul. He loved taking care of others. I remember working with him during the summer while I was in school. He took his work seriously and at the same time like to have a good laugh. He will be truly missed. His family will be in my prayers.
