Mr. Kenneth Glover Hall, age 84, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at his residence.
Glover was born in Cherokee, County, Alabama on April 30, 1941, in a little red house that sat on the side of the road that we would lovingly pay tribute to every time we crossed the state line from Georgia into Alabama on Hwy. 20. Son of the late Harvey E. Hall and the late Marnese Comer Hall.
Glover worked for over 30 years with Georgia Power at Plant Hammond. During his time with Georgia Power, he helped often with the March of Dimes Walk. After he retired in 1996, he would meet friends and hang out at Evan's Store across from Plant Hammond. He enjoyed many grilled cheese sandwiches and French fries along with great conversation with his friends from the plant. The ladies who worked at the café a Evans' store knew him well and considered him part of their family. He even bought the grill they used to make his grilled cheese sandwiches.
During his retirement, Glover started woodworking as a hobby. He made many items over the years, a bed, a table, a roll top desk, and many items for people at his church. His most cherished woodworking items were the ones he made for his grandchildren. Glover and his wife were also very involved with their church, Trinity by the River Church. Many times, they participated in the Living Nativity scene and helped with serving dinners to those who had lost loved ones. Glover also spent several years helping the ladies with sending out the weekly newsletter, his "sewing circle" as he called them.
Glover and his wife would often help those in need. They would see a person on the side of the road in winter and give them their own jacket to wear. They would offer their van to those who needed transportation to take loved ones to the hospital.
Glover and his wife had recently moved into Brookdale Senior Living, and while it had only been a few months, Glover won over the ladies serving in the dining hall, the CNAs, and the staff.
Glover is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlene Simmons Hall, who he met while both were in high school at Coosa. He is also survived by his son, Lance Hall and his daughter Sabra Hall Broome and son-in-law Steven Broome. Grandchildren, Michael and Joseph Hall and Jackson and Evan Broome.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 2:00pm in the chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Rev. Kevin Lobello officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
