Sue Hampton Obituary

Mrs. Sue Ellen Duncan Hampton, age 78, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Hampton was born in Rome, GA, on September 8, 1946, daughter of the late Farrill Duncan and Virginia Robbins Duncan. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Duncan.

Mrs. Hampton graduated from East Rome High School and then attended West Georgia College. Sue, along with her husband Lee, owned and operated Lee's Furniture Store on Broad Street in Rome, GA for many years. She was a very active member of North Broad Baptist Church where she served as a choir member, worked in the kitchen and was involved with the handbell choir. In her spare time, Mrs. Hampton enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, and playing Bunko with her friends and neighbors.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Mr. Lee Hampton; her sister, Patty Green; her brother-in-law, David Hampton (Karen), of Greensboro, NC; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 12 noon, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Pastor Micah Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Monday, from 11:00am until 11:45am, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, by 11:30am on Monday, and include: Bolton Burnes, Brandt Dodd, Jordan Evans, Billy Quarles, Steve Duncan, and Andy Aiken.

The family would like to thank Pruitt Health Hospice for their compassion and care of Mrs. Hampton. A special thank you to Jason, Kim, Amy, and Casey.
