Terry Jennings Obituary

Terry Del Rosso Jennings' life passed to the next spiritual world on July 10, 2024, due to the progressive mental and physical effects of the advanced stage of dementia. She was born in Rochester, NY on June 12, 1947, and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1969, where she met the love of her life Jerry. Terry and Jerry were married for 55 years. She was a devoted mom to her son Matt and daughters Allison and Jennifer. Her personality was one that demonstrated compassion and care for her family, friends, and community and had an independent and feisty nature when necessary.

Terry had a varied and unconventional career progression from lifeguard and water safety instructor, waitress, 6th grade teacher, caregiver at the child development center, education coordinator for Rome Head Start Program, real estate agent, high school substitute teacher, home design and furniture salesperson, Rome-Floyd Planning Commissioner, and leader of Georgian's For Pure Water advocacy against a Vann's Valley rock quarry.

Terry loved to garden, hike, tent camp, run, play tennis and bridge, and was an accomplished white water solo canoeist. She loved to read, especially biographies of notable women in history. She was an animal lover, especially her cats, Stripes and Roscoe, and dogs, Corky, Walter, Sandy, Kendra, Alex, Millie, Jack, Gigi, Chloe, and Max.

Terry is survived by her husband Jerry; son, Matt (Fernanda); daughters; Allison (Keith) and Jennifer (Mac); 5 grandchildren, Connor, Duncan, Lily, Laurel, and Tsali and sister; Rebecca Branham.

The family will privately celebrate her life and ask friends to remember her by doing what she loved most, spending time with Loved Ones!

I knew Terry at the U. of R. We shared some interests, and she was kind enough to lend me her Italian language textbook. I found her beautiful and very well spoken, and regretted for a long time not having known her better. Fondest and most affectionate wishes to all her friends and family. Sincerely, Bill Miele UR71

I´m so sorry Jerry and family. I´ll never forget what a pistol Terry was in our anti-rock quarry meetings, all the research and heart she put in. I remember being very glad that she was on our side! I also remember falling in love with your beautiful house on 411 that she had made the best combination of gorgeous and comfortable. She was a special person.

May your spirit fly free beloved sister who taught me how to sew, cook, mother and curl my hair in a flip in 7th grade.
A true independent spirit. Love, Becky
