Willie Williams Obituary
Mr. Williams was born in Flat Rock, AL, on November 1, 1935, son of the late Will J.B. Williams and the late Dessie Mae Bowers Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lura Marie Kelley Williams, and his brother, Henry Williams. Mr. Williams was the owner and operator of Gene's Auto parts for many years before opening Glenwood Motors. He operated Glenwood motors for numerous years while remaining active in the Armuchee community. Mr. Williams was a member of the PTA and a very active band booster for Armuchee Schools. He was a member of the Floyd Springs Lodge #167 F&AM. Mr. Williams was a Shriner and member of the Yaarab Temple and a member of the Red Devil Clown Unit. He was an ordained member and had previously served as a deacon at Calhoun Ave. Baptist Church. Mr. Williams was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his 2 children, Linda Diane Hooks, Villa Rica, and Michael Eugene Williams (Lisa), Rome; 2 grandchildren, Zackary Williams (Sarah), and Sharon Maddox (Steve); 3 great-grandchildren, Skylar Ramsdell, Delaney Ramsdell and Amelia Williams; his sister, Syble Payne; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. FCSO Chaplain David Thornton will officiate.
Pallbearers are to assemble before service time and include: Active, Sgt. Jeff Black, Cpl. Russ Taylor, Dep. Jimmy Allred, Zack Williams, Colt Waid, Dep. Adam Cook and Dep. Dennis Noles; honorary, Sgt. Harrison Dupree, Lt. James Womack and Wendell Hicks.
Due to the treatment that Mr. Williams' son, Mike, is currently undergoing, calls and texts are greatly appreciated. It is also requested that attendees follow social distancing measures at the graveside and those that feel under the weather please refrain from encroaching upon Mike's personal space. Your understanding is appreciated during this time.
