Adrian Briggs Obituary

Adrian Sterling "Skip" Briggs, 90, of the Town of Lee, died on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Rome Health.

He was born on April 2, 1934, in Illion, NY, the son of Vincent and Marian Sterling Briggs. He graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. On October 27, 1956, he married Sarah Stirling, the love of his life. Adrian served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 and then worked for the Department of the Air Force at Rome Air Development Center for 32 years and then at the Atlantic Research Corp. as an electrical engineer. Adrian was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as trustee, Session, senior choir member and Sunday school teacher. He also had memberships with the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Lee American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah; daughters, Linda Moffatt, Cynthia (Michael) Ford, Adrianne (David) Dubiel and Patricia (Patrick) Politi; a sister, Gail (Robert) Briggs Royce; grandchildren, Timothy and Joshua Sanderson, Kyle and Christopher (Monique) Moffatt, Alen (Kristina) and Matthew Harris, Nicholas, Kimber and Samantha Dubiel and Nicholas and Michael Politi; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Moffatt; and son-in-law Thomas Sanderson.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Sanderson; and a sister, Charlotte Briggs Tucker.

Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday at Zion Episcopal Church, 140 W. Liberty St., Rome. Relatives and friends may call, at the church, on Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Robert W. Stirling Memorial Carillon, which Skip maintained for the community to enjoy or First Presbyterian Church.

I'm so sorry to be reading this. I have wonderful memories of Mr. Briggs and the entire Briggs family from growing up in Rome and the first Presbyterian Church; they were the second biggest family in the church and we were the first. My heart goes out to the entire family and I send you whole lot of love and prayers.
