Barbara Leach Obituary

May 19, 1944 - July 21, 2025

Barbara Ann Beck "Barb" Leach was born on May 19, 1944, in Rome, NY. From a young age, she embraced hard work and community through working in her family's restaurant, Beck's Grove, Blossvale, NY.

Barbara dedicated 25 years of service as an Electronics Technician at Griffiss Air Force Base, designing communication cable layouts for U.S. Air Force installations across the country and Europe. Her precision and engineering skills helped ensure vital infrastructure was successfully implemented.

She also found deep purpose in organizing annual events for the Rome DDSO (developmental disabilities service office) on base - an endeavor that sparked her long-standing commitment to community service.

A woman of many talents, Barbara also held roles as a licensed cosmetologist, a notary and a real estate agent in Oneida, NY. No matter the title, Barb always gave her all.

In 1995, she became a vibrant part of the High Point Community in Brooksville, FL, where she poured her energy into numerous organizations. Her heart belonged to the High Point Lions Club, where she served in many leadership roles, including two terms as President, and played a key role in planning events and fundraising initiatives. She was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 186 Auxiliary and mentored young women in the Florida State Girls Auxiliary from 2010 to 2018.

Barb was an avid golfer, enjoying time with the "Sunday Schoolers" and "Belles and Beaus" at the High Point Golf Club. She found joy in playing cards, especially Poker, Texas Hold 'em and Hand, Foot and Elbow, and was the mentor and facilitator of the High Point Mah Jongg Club.

She also loved to go "thrift shopping" anytime, anywhere and with anyone. Extensive traveling across the U.S. and Europe and cruising the open seas brought her endless delight and memories.

If someone needed a ride, a hot meal or a helping hand, Barbara was always there. Her compassion, energy and generous spirit left an imprint on everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Louis and Kathryn Beck; and her brother, Charles Beck.

She is survived by her devoted son, David DeLuca\ and his wife, Alejandra; four cherished grandchildren, David Jr. and partner, Brittany, Angelica and her wife, Ciara, Benjamin (14) and Nora (13); and beloved great-granddaughter, Cora.
