Darlene Bouchard Obituary

PORT LEYDEN - Darlene M. Bouchard, 89, widow of Franklin L., passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 16, 1935 in Boonville, a daughter of Frederick W. and Reba Hubbard Rocker, and was a graduate of Port Leyden High School with the Class of 1954. On June 19, 1954, Darlene was united in marriage with Franklin L. Bouchard at the Trinity Episcopal Church Rectory, Boonville. Thereafter, the couple settled on North Pearl Street. Darlene was employed for a number of years at Lally Manufacturing Co. as a floor supervisor for the knitting mill.

In 1985, the couple relocated to Port Huron, MI, where she was the manager of West Moore Apartments in Port Huron, before moving back to Clinton, NY in 1995, where they resided in the Applewood Community. Mr. Bouchard, a former manager at Revere Copper & Brass, Rome, and Muller Brass Co., Port Huron, MI, passed away on April 23, 2011. Since 2014 Darlene had resided at Whitton Place Apartments, Port Leyden, before entering Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville.

Darlene was a longtime and active member of the First Congregational Church, Port Leyden, where she served as choir director and also taught Sunday School. Her social time with friends held cherished memories. Darlene very much enjoyed watching tennis on TV, a sporting event introduced to her by her husband Franklin, and one she loved after his passing.

She is survived by her children: Yvette (Edward) Farr, Port Leyden, Franklin Jr. (Annette Wahl) Bouchard, Boonville, Yvonne Lallier and her companion Steve Ludlow, Sauquoit; seven grandchildren: Edward Jr. and Amber Farr, Anthony, Billie Jean, and Samantha Bouchard, Michael (Brittany) and Andrew Lallier; great-grandchildren: Kiera Marie Carman, Mason Michael Lallier, Urijah Leo, Alasia and Harmony Burns; and one sister-in-law, Sue Rocker. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings Helena Munn, Janet Marmon and Frederick Rocker Jr.

Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate and loving care given to Darlene by her granddaughter Amber and the C-wing staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center during her stay.

Funeral services will be held privately for her immediate family. Interment will be in Port Leyden Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Her arrangements have been entrusted to Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, PO Box 502, Port Leyden, NY 13433.
