David Seubert Obituary

David E. Seubert, MD, JD, MBA, of Rochester and Manlius, NY, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023, at Upstate Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
He was born on April 11, 1961, to the late David and Joyce Finnerty Seubert. Dave, as he was known to all, courageously fought a seven-month battle of pancreatic cancer. While this disease may have robbed him of some of his physical abilities, it failed to destroy his beautiful mind and heart, his keen and tremendous wit and his ever-present guidance we all cherished.
Dave graduated from Camden High School in 1979. He attended Union College (BS) 1983, Sackler School of Medicine –Tel-Aviv University (MD) 1990, University of South Florida (MBA) 1997, Western New England, College of Law (JD) 2005, University of Connecticut School of Law (LLM) 2015 and University of Pittsburgh Law (CHC) 2018. After graduating from medical school, Dave held various positions until his diagnosis in October. He was a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellow at Wayne State University, Hutzel Hospital; Perinatologist at Baystate Medical Center; Director of Obstetrics and Co-Director of Regional Perinatal Center, Bellevue Hospital; Associate Director of the Medical Student Clerkship, Director of Clinical Obstetrical Services, Director of Medical Student Clerkship in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Interim Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship, Medical Director of Faculty Group Practice, New York University School of Medicine, Division Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Vice Chair of Obstetrics, William Beaumont Hospital, Division Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Hurley Medical Center; Attending Physician (Perinatologist), University of Rochester and Attending Physician (Perinatologist) Rochester General Hospital.
During his career, Dave held many academic appointments including Clinical Instructor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Wayne State University School of Medicine; Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tufts School of Medicine; Assistant Professor (Clinical) of Obstetrics and Gynecology, New York University School of Medicine; Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology New York University; Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Oakland University-William Beaumont School of Medicine; and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
In addition to his storied medical career, Dave practiced personal injury law with Judge Robert Julian in Syracuse, NY.
Since early childhood, Dave wanted to be a physician. Throughout his extensive career, he delivered hundreds of babies, was a teacher, a mentor, a healer and always a scientist. His humility touched so many and his heart was one of a kind. He was an eternal optimist and was everyone's cheerleader. He had a knack for telling amazing stories and enjoyed making those around him laugh. A man of unusual empathy, insight, tolerance and compassion, he brought love, understanding and guidance to the lives of everyone who knew him. Dave was never afraid to fight for his beliefs, for those who were wronged and in recent was referred to as "fierce".
Dave is survived by his sister, Jill (Brian Gallagher), of Manlius, NY; nephew, Jack Lamberton, Manlius, NY; niece, Elise Justman, of Havertown, PA; aunt, Jane Moore Price, Fayetteville, NY; Mark Moore (Virginia), Michael Moore (Fayetteville) and Matthew Moore (Virginia).
He was predeceased by sister, Karen Justman, in August 2021.
He leaves an enormous void in all our lives and we will carry him in our hearts and minds eternally.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023 from St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Camden, NY. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, April 21, at LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. He was a great friend, mentor, and sponsor. He looked out for, guided, and helped young doctors who may have had some struggles, but who he knew had potential. Not many people can succeed so dramatically in so many different fields professionally...but it all pales in comparison to the person and friend he was...

So sorry to hear of Dave´s passing. Such a smart, funny, generous teacher. He shepherded me through some difficult times during medical school and residency. I think of him all the time and frequently share his stories to try to spread his wisdom and advice. He is missed.

I'm deeply saddened & very sorry for your loss of such an amazing man. He was very dear to my family and I. David came into our lives almost 4 years ago, come May. He came into our lives at the most definitely hardest thing we have ever experienced, the tragic and unexpected loss of my husband & 4 children's father, Kenny Albro (2*2*68-5*5*19) David was referred to me by a Lawyer friend of my husband. We were in need of a serious, expertise lawyer who was the best of the best to go up against a major insurance company. However a brilliant lawyer is not all we acquired. From the moment we first met he came into our home with open arms, much sympathy & a genuine concern for our well being & grief. He wanted to know & learn all about Kenny & what kind of man he was & the kind of life he lived. Then is was time to get down to business. David put his whole heart & soul & mind into this case. He would always show up for meetings with various goodies & treats he bought like home made Ice cream sandwiches from a gourmet candy shop in Manlius called Gabrielle Chocolates. He was so much more than a Lawyer to my family. He was a mentor, a friend & someone who genuinely cared about the well being of my family. He worked hard & diligently & the outcome was more Than we could have imagined thanks to his brilliant mind & vast knowledge. We were still in the process of working with David & will be missing him tremendously. It was an honor & privilege to have known him. Much love & sympathy to his family & friends. His loss will be great to many.

I am so sorry to learn of David's passing. He was one of my senior residents when I was a junior, and a respected friend and colleague over the years. His dry, wry wit, and generous spirit accompanied his keen memory perfectly. Sincere condolences to his family, friends, and acquaintances.

Jill/Brian/Jack:
David was a kind wonderful man who truly cared about everyone. He made you feel special and really listened no matter how busy he was. And boy was he busy - traveling, being a doctor and a lawyer.
I know that I will miss our talks as he was someone you could go to for advice or just to talk.
Rest in peace Dave - you will always be remembered as a good man that did for so many and I will miss your friendship and all that you did for me.
