Edward McClintock Obituary

Edward H. "Chubby" McClintock Jr., age 96, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2023, at Rome Health.

Edward was born in Newburgh, New York, on October 28, 1926 to the late Edward and Hazel Curry McClintock. He proudly served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater for the United States Navy. Chubby was united in marriage to Genevieve Diamonti on January 30, 1949. Being an avid athlete, he went on to attend Sampson College where he played Lacrosse. Following college, he accepted a position as a supervisor for New York Trap Rock, later taking the opportunity to work for Prudential Insurance moving his family to Rome, NY in 1966. Because of his love for people, after retiring in 1990, he worked as a courier for Rome Hospital until the age of 86.

Chubby put his heart and soul into every aspect of his life. He left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered with his infectious smile, charismatic attitude, and positive outlook on life. He enjoyed his garden as well as working out at the YMCA and having coffee at McDonald's with his friends. He was a member of the Lee Center American Legion and St. Joseph's Church.

Chubby is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Genevieve; his daughters, Arlene (Tom) Carmody and their children, Craig (Amy), Eric (Jessica), and Ryan (Linda), Robin (Bruce) Baynes and their children, Kyle (Elena) and Lauren (Erich) Dittmar, Kim (Eli) Vazquez and their children, Alexander (Caitlyn) and Philip, and Nancy (Jeff) Nowicki and their children, Joey, and Lindsay (Joey) Rutkowski; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Molly MacLeod.

The family would like to thank the ER, ICU and 2 East staff at Rome Health for the compassion they exhibited throughout his stay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, with Father Robert L. Kelly officiating.

There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Abraham House of Rome.
