Edythe Roberts Obituary
Edythe was born in Rome, NY, on June 2, 1929, a daughter of Clarence and Martha Kessler Fuhrman. She grew up on Rt. 26, near the hamlet of Mohawk Hill and graduated from Constableville High School with the Class of 1947. On August 20, 1949, Edythe was united in marriage with John O. Roberts at the Presbyterian Church, Boonville. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rome, before returning to Mohawk Hill. Mr. Roberts, a veteran of WWII and employee at Griffiss Air Base, Rome, passed away on June 5, 1966.
Later, Mrs. Roberts attended Utica School of Commerce; upon graduation she was employed at West Leyden Central School, working in the school library before employment for Mercer's Dairy of Boonville. Her last employment for several years was as Office Manager at Best Western Motor Lodge, Boonville, retiring in 1990. Edythe moved to Boonville in 1988.
Mrs. Roberts was a member of West Leyden Reformed Church, the Turin Grange, Constableville Senior Citizens, Port Leyden Senior Citizens, and the West Leyden Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Kim Roberts, Marcy, she is survived by two grandsons, Christopher J. (Crystal) Roberts, Brookfield, MA, and Andrew (Mikki) Roberts, Apalachin, NY, and their daughter, a great-granddaughter to Edythe, Sadie Roberts.
Services will be private and there are no calling hours. Interment will be in the spring in West Leyden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at the West Leyden Reformed Church, c/o 4546 Mud Lake Road, West Leyden, NY 13489 or to The Children's Dyslexia Center of Central New York, 8280 State Rt. 69, Oriskany, NY 13424-4913.
