Elizabeth Talgo Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Talgo," age 73, of Holland Patent, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, with her loving family by her side and rescue cat "Cassie" by her feet. She was born on November 20, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY. A daughter of John and Carol (Bernard) Murtagh.

In 1977, she was united in marriage to Arnold Talgo.

Betty retired from the Neighborhood Center as a case worker where she ensured that area children's needs were being met.

Betty's greatest joy in life was her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. To say she was loved by her family is an understatement. She was the best Grandma, or "BaBa," to her grandchildren and put them above all. She loved to be surrounded by family and never ran out of love to share. She spent her spare time reading mystery novels, shopping with her friends, and taking the occasional trip with her family. In addition, she fully believed that "pets are part of the family." Her love for animals was well known by all. Although Betty never liked to brag about it, she medalled in women's singles at the Long Island Tennis Amateurs in 1967 and 1968. Her love of tennis continued throughout her life.

Betty's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children, Christian (Tracey) Talgo, and Brooke (Christopher) Slag; grandchildren, Juniper Talgo, and Donovan and Eliana Slag; her sister, Mary (Jim) Krull; (great) nieces and nephews; her aunt, Sister Joan Bernard; Sister-in-law Diane Talgo; and the Surovek family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arnie.

We would like to extend special gratitude to Lisa Anken and Amanda Jewett for their kindness and warmth to Betty and our family during her final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, you can donate to the Anita's Stevens Swan Humane Society or an animal rescue of your choice.
