John Carrier Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we commemorate the life and death of John Robert Carrier and Nancy Karen Mortis Carrier. John (Jack) passed away, at the age of 82, on October 2, 2020, in West Melbourne, FL, where they resided. Nancy passed away, at the age of 82, on May 24, 2025, in Esparto, CA.

They were both born in Rome, NY. Jack on November 28, 1937 and Nancy on September 7, 1942.

Nancy graduated from Rome Free Academy. Jack graduated from West Lyden High School. Jack and Nancy married on May 26, 1962. Their relationship spanned over 58 years and they enjoyed spending time with their many grandchildren. Jack was a life-long mason and had been a member of the Army National Guard.

Nancy and Jack had three children. They are predeceased by their son, Mark Carrier and survived by daughter, Wendy Carrier Schoberth (Rodney) and son, Scott Carrier (Joanna).

Jack is predeceased by his parents, John Charles Carrier and Pearl Mary Evans Carrier; his siblings, Gary Evans (Dawna) and Diane (Carrier) O'Boyle (Jack). He is survived by sister, Bonnie (Evans) Speciale (Dave).

Nancy is predeceased by parents, Harold Mortis Sr. and Alfreda Mary (Wood) Mortis; her siblings, Tony Pettingel (Dorothy), Joyce Voci (Tony Marcelletta and Frank Voci), Ron Mortis (Ruth), Robert Mortis (Geri) and Bernard Mortis (Inger). She is survived by brothers, James Mortis (Karen) and Harold Mortis Jr. (Margaret).

Jack and Nancy leave fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a Gravesite Service on July 19, 2025, from 1:30-2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Rte 26 N, Lee.
