Joseph J. Piluso, 81, of Whitesboro, NY, departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2025. Joe was born in Utica, NY, the son of the late James (Jimmy) and Rose Muraca Piluso and was educated in local schools.

After graduation, he enlisted in the Army Reserves, then joined his father at his garage, on Main St., in Whitesboro, NY, where they joined their automotive capabilities.

Later on, Joe along with his father, built the garage on Mohawk St., Whitesboro, NY. They serviced the trucking and tractor-trailer industry and maintained an impeccable service to many of the over the road tractor trailers.

On December 3, 1982, Joe was united in marriage to Jeanne Bateson and they had a loving relationship for 42 years.

He enjoyed boating at his camp in Old Forge, along with his desire for old cars.

Joe was always available for his family and his customers, working long and hard hours.

He will be sadly missed by his family; his beloved wife, Jeanne; son, Joseph Piluso; two sisters, Joanne Angelhow and Janet Noe; stepdaughters, Heather Pierce and Amy Zeszutko; grandchildren, Hannah Pierce, Tyler Secor, Eddie Zeszutko, Tessa Zeszutko and Olivia Zeszutko; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, James Piluso.

Joe's Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Whitesboro, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Durant.

There will be a time after Mass to greet the family. Interment, at the convenience of the family, will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Jamie George Foundation would be appreciated; envelopes will be available at the church.

I am so very sorry for your Loss. I am sure that my Dad and Joe are up there in Heaven probably working on some of the old cars. I was in the military also and when I came home my Dad usually sent me to go see Joe when I had some kind of trouble with my car. I am so sure that he touched many lives.

So sad to hear of his passing. Knew him for many years at his business. He was a kind and considerate man. My business Yorkville Battery and the Piluso´s had done business together for many years. I have always said "we do not have customers, we have friends that we do business with!" Joe was certainly a friend. Joe was a great friend I like many other's would stop at the shop until he sold it the i would stop at the cave we would talk about my trip to florida. soon as I come back, I would stop in to see him. He was an awesome friend. He helped me many times I will miss him.

I have been friends with Joe from when I was about 10 years old my father opened up the original shop on Main Street and I was there all summer learning from my father and Joe.his father worked in Rome and Joe and my father ran the business he was a great friend I miss him already

I met Joe 1970 in Army Reserves . When I was highway superintendent in New York Mills he took care of me like a brother keeping our trucks and equipment moving . He was always a special friend .
