Marian Thompson Obituary

Marian E. Thompson, age 89, of Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024.

She was born June 30, 1935, in Altoona, PA, a daughter of the late Clifford and Margaret Patterson Moyer, and graduated from Roaring Spring High School in 1953. Marian was united in marriage to Paul Thompson on May 8, 1954, in Newry, PA. He passed away on January 4, 2019. Marian was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Lee Center, the St. Joseph's Church Women's Club and Choir, and the Rome Choral Society. She loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and do crossword puzzles. She also loved panda bears and cardinals. Marian read bible scriptures daily.

Marian is survived by her children, Michael and Julie Thompson of Cicero, Christopher and Terry Thompson of Lee Center, Gregory and Dawn Thompson of Rome, Vincent and De'La Thompson of Big Foot, TX, Thomas Thompson and Carolyn Gherardi of Southport, N.C., and Margaret Thompson of Rome; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; as well as "adopted" sons, Scott Rutledge, and Shawn Hannafon. She was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Irving and Shirley Moyer; and a grandson, Blair Thompson.

The Family would like to extend a special thank you to Marian's granddaughter, Jessica. She has selflessly and tirelessly cared for Marian during these last several years and we are all grateful to her more than words can say. To John and Deb Armstrong, who brought communion to Marian when she became unable to attend church in person, thank you for going out of your way to help a friend in need; to Dr. Anthony Cotronea and his staff, thank you for all the years of love and care you have shown Marian; to the doctors, nurses and staff at Rome Health of 2 East, thank you for making Marian's stay more comfortable as well as the kindness that you extended to her family during such a difficult time. You were all wonderful.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph's Church, Lee Center. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Monday, September 9, from 4 to 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church Memorial Fund.
