Nicholas Carparelli Obituary

Nicholas F. Carparelli

Schuyler, NY

Nicholas F. Carparelli, 71, of Schuyler passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Nick was born on October 9, 1953, to the late Daniel and Lucy (Remore) Carparelli. He was a 1971 graduate of Proctor High School. While in High School he was a member of the bowling team and loved playing in the band "August."

He attended Utica College of Syracuse University majoring in Business Administration. He went on to receive a certificate of Management from Utica College. While in College he was a member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity.

On August 21975 Nick married the love of his life, Carol Kopack. Nick often said that he knew she was the one on the very first day he met her.

Nick began his career working in the family business, Carparelli Brothers, Inc. He later went on to become the Director of Paving Services of Central New York for the American Concrete Pavement Association. He then became the Executive Director of the New York State Concrete Masonry Association, a position he held for nearly 21 years before his retirement in 2024.

Nick served as President of the Mohawk Valley Concrete Promotion Council. He served on the Board of Central New York Concrete Promotion Council. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Syracuse Chapter of the American Concrete Institute. He was a member of the Masonry Society. He was the last State Executive to serve on the Board of the National Concrete Masonry Association.

Nick had many passions in life. He loved playing the guitar and especially studying with the late great Carmen Caramanica. He was a "Car Nut" and spent the summers driving his 1979 Corvette to various car shows throughout the area. He was a vice President of the Mohawk Motorcades Car Club. He also once served on the Board of the Landmark Society of Greater Utica. He loved the game of golf and at one time enjoyed being a member of the Cedar Lake Club. He recently enjoyed taking Italian Lessons at MVCC.

Nick is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Carol, sister-in-law, Christine Frick and a nephew Christopher (Raffaela) Frick and a niece Erica Frick and her fiancé Tommy Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lucy Carparelli, his in-laws, Walter and Joan Kopack, his brother-in-law, Edward "Buddy" Frick, and a close friend, David McCloskey.

Nick was a very special person. Everyone that met him liked him instantly. He made many friends too numerous to mention. He loved them all.

Carol would like to extend her deepest thanks to the special care given to Nick and the love she received from Dr. Win, Dr. Brehaut and nurses Emily, Ashley and Toni on the third floor of Wynn Hospital.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear of this. Nick and I connected on sustainability in the building industry. He was supportive of innovation and so very welcoming to conversations and efforts to do things better. Such a soft and strong spirit. He was so very good at connecting people, and lifting them up.
I regret not knowing him better, you always think there is time. I love learning his love of music and cars, and wish we had had those conversation, together.
I am so glad for knowing him, and hope your bright memories are a true comfort and even a joy for you in this very tough time.

Carol, Things will never be the same at Munson without him. Truly a "good" man in every sense of the word. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
