Paul Kindler Obituary

On April 30, Paul R. Kindler, born May 15, 1932 passed away at his home. A lifelong resident of Rome he was the son of Frederic and Mary (Barnes) Kindler.

Paul was an infantry Sergeant during the Korean Conflict and fought in the battle of Heartbreak Ridge, earning a Bronze Star and other service medals. He attended local schools where he skipped an elementary grade and earned degrees from both Utica College and Syracuse University. He worked at Revere Copper and Brass and later for the US Postal Service for many years. He was a member of Henry P. Smith Post #24 of Rome.

He was an intelligent man with many interests. He could talk on almost any subject and had an amazing memory. He took pottery classes, stayed fit by going to the gym, walking the trails at Griffiss Business Park and golfing sometimes six days a week.

Paul was predeceased by sisters; Dorothy (Howard) James, Elizabeth (Donald) Scagel, and Ellen (infant), brothers; Edwin (Jackie), Roger and Freddy Kindler.

He was a quiet, thoughtful, self-reliant gentleman. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

If there is a golf course on a sunny day in the afterlife, Paul is there.

Funeral arrangements are by the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home with burial at the St. Peter's Cemetery. Per Paul's wishes there are no visiting hours.
