Rose Nassif Obituary

1922 - 2025

Yorkville - It is in celebration of a beautiful life, of 102 years, that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rose L. Nassif.

Rose was born on August 9, 1922, and raised in Utica. She married Joseph M. Nassif in 1948, and they shared 62 loving years together before his passing in 2010.

Rose believed it was her work ethic that helped her to live such a long, productive life. This is evidenced by all of the varied jobs she had throughout the years. While she was still in school, she worked, on Saturdays, at the Bradley Hotel, in Frankfort, washing and ironing curtains and tablecloths for 25 cents a day! At 16, she became a bean picker, which is where she met Joe. She then worked at The Globe Woolen Mill, Winship Luggage, Remington Arms, General Electric and The Red Barn.

Rose loved cooking and baking and was not happy unless you were eating when visiting her. And, she was a phenomenal cook and baker! All family holidays were hosted at her home; space may have been limited, but the food was endless, along with the laughter and the love. She also was an avid knitter and crocheter, which she continued to do until the last few years of her life.

Her family and her faith were the most important aspects of her life. When it became difficult for her to attend Mass, she made sure to watch it, on TV, two or three times a day; she also prayed the rosary daily while riding her stationary bike. She truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sense of humor and storytelling, of her life experiences, were present until the time of her passing. Her family has been blessed by her unconditional love and her wisdom.

Rose leaves her legacy of four children, Joanne (Kelli) Nassif, Joe Nassif, Lorrie (Marty) Herthum and Donna (Jim) LaZore; seven grandchildren, Brett Herthum, Erik (Barb) Nassif, Kurt Herthum, Tonimarie (Junior) LaZore Thomas, Garrett (Amanda) Herthum, Jenna Nassif and Zachary LaZore; fourteen great-grandchildren, Allen Herthum, Nicholas, Dean and Ryan Nassif, Jallani Thomas, Blake LaZore, Matthew Herthum, Amaya Thomas, Kamila LaZore, Jeffrey and Melanie Herthum, Gianna and Emma Herthum and Xavion Thomas.

She was predeceased by her infant great-grandson, Dominic LaZore, in 2013.

The family would like to thank the Home Health Care Aides from U.S. Care and all the private in-home caregivers, especially Gwen, Kay and Toni, for all their unwavering compassion, companionship and loving care, for which we are forever grateful.
