Roxanne L. Platt

UTICA/BOONVILLE - Roxanne L. Platt, 69, of Utica, formerly of Boonville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at her home.

She was born on June 14, 1956 in Constableville, a daughter of Phyllis Persons Marks and the late Wilson Marks. Roxanne grew up in Boonville, graduating from Adirondack High school in the class of 1974. She furthered her education at Herkimer Community College, earning an Associates Degree in Human Services and Social Work. Roxanne worked for Village Florals for 10 years while living in Cold Brook, where she raised her family. For several years, she owned and operated Toll Gate Florist in downtown Boonville.

Roxanne was a giver, from Girl Scouts, to coaching, and hosting parties for every occasion, she gave her all for everyone. She gave her whole heart to the ones she loved. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them with all her being, sacrificing much in her life for them, including her Pepsi (her favorite soda), if they wanted it. Before her health problems escalated, Roxanne loved bringing them to the park, church, Toys R Us, and the beach. She loved watching them grow and was very proud of all of them. Roxanne often showed her love through Facetime to her grandson who lived farther away, and always made sure to show pictures and videos of her grandchildren to everyone she knew. Flowers were Roxanne's passion. She found great joy in making people happy with floral arrangements, gifts, or even a few kind words. Roxanne knew how to lift people up and make them smile. She always kept a smile on her face, seeing the positives in situations despite her own traumas. Roxanne was an unstoppable force, a "super woman"; nothing could knock her down.

She loved her Abundant Life Church family. Time and time again, they lifted her spirit with constant messages and phone calls when her health was not the best. Roxanne loved and praised her Lord, as nothing could break her faith. She believed full-heartedly. She is safe in Heaven now, no longer suffering, and is surely watching and cheering on everyone she loved, just as she would have on earth.

Roxanne is survived by her two children, Amber Platt (Luis Colon) of Whitesboro and Tyler Platt (Carolyn Wooden) of Sarasota, Florida; her mother, Phyllis Marks of Boonville; five grandchildren, Aubrianna, Makaila, Charlotte, Sergio, and Holden; two siblings, Steve Marks of Boonville and Ronna Gaetano, also of Boonville; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father; and one brother, Eric Marks.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Abundant Life Fellowship of Boonville. There are no calling hours. A celebration of life will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall at the church.
