Stephanie Yaworski Obituary

Ret. Major Dr. Stephanie E. Yaworski, 84, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was born in Rome on January 18, 1940, a daughter of the late Andrew and Genevieve (Simon) Yaworski. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and Keuka College.

Stephanie began her teaching career in Greece, NY, in the late 1960s and in 1971 she enlisted as an Officer in the United States Army. She was Honoralby Discharged in 1973 but her service to our country was just beginning. Stephanie went on to serve in the US Army Reserves and achieve the rank of Major before retiring in 2005.

While in the Reserves, she returned to teaching and landed at Bowling Green University. She was a Professor in the School of Business for many years before retiring and moving back to Rome.

She was a parishioner of Transfiguration Church.

Stephanie is survived by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Pouliot; and several cousins, Diane Mandryck, Joanne Van Wagenen (Howard), Gail Littler, John Yaworski (Mary K.), Joseph Yaworski (Linda), Barbara Waters (Jim) and Robert Simon. She was predeceased by a sister, Andrea Pouliot.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 6th at 11:00 a.m., at Transfiguration Church, 111 Ridge St., Rome NY 13440, followed by Military Honors. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, February, 5th from 4-6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc. 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Stephanie's memory to Transfiguration Church or Keuka College.
