Thomas Korman Obituary

BOONVILLE - Thomas H. Korman, 70, of Post St., husband of Joanne, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, after a long illness.

Tom was born in Constableville, NY, on October 17, 1954, a son of Henry J. and Grace Audrey Atkinson Korman. His entire life was lived in Boonville, growing up on the Korman family farm on the Edmonds Road near Hawkinsville. He graduated from Adirondack High School, Boonville, with the Class of 1974 and afterwards served his country in the U.S.Army, stationed at Fort Ord, at Monterrey, California, where he was honorably discharged in 1977.

On May 15, 1976, Tom was united in marriage with Joanne A. Christman at the Lowville United Methodist Church. In 1977, the couple settled on Post St., Boonville.

For 27 years, until the plant closed, Tom was employed at Ethan Allen Furniture Company, Boonville. For the past several years of employment at the furniture company, he held the position of Plant Night Manager. Following Ethan Allen, Mr. Korman attended truck driving school at MVCC, Utica, and began a second career as truck driver, first for Werner Co., followed by J.B. Hunt, and N.F.I., retiring from Swift Trucking Co. of Johnstown, NY.

Tom greatly enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his loving wife, Joanne, of 49 years, Tom is survived by four daughters, Jamie Proper, Le Mars, IA, Jennifer Parker, Martinsburg, Jodie Korman, Port Leyden, and Jackie (Brian) Van Patten, Boonville; 14 grandchildren, Haley Wossner, (Daniel Jr.), Bryanna Darling, Emmelie Darling, Makenzye Taylor, Kyleygh Taylor, Mariah Higby, Adriana Hutchins, Dwayne Fruin, Drake Fruin, Desmond Post, Ethan Van Patten, Ryder Van Patten, Riley Van Patten and Elsa Van Patten; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Wossner III, Saphire Wossner, and Junior Phelps; two brothers, Kevin (Cindy) Korman, state of Utah, and Keith (Mary Beth) Korman, Boonville. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry, in 1978, and Grace Audrey Korman, and his brother, Robert Flemming, a son-in-law, David Proper, and his grandmother, Ann Korman.

In addition to the loving care of his wife, Joanne, towards the end of his life, Tom was also cared for by Palliative Care, at Samaritan Hospital, Watertown. His family extends a note of sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Samaritan Medical Center, with a very special thank you extended to Dr. Budnik in Oncology and Jackie Queen, Nurse Manager, and to Dr. Rory Sears, who all went above and beyond, doing all they could to bring comfort and healing to Tom. Bless you all.

Tom can now play golf as much as he wants. Throughout his life, Tom greatly enjoyed and excelled at the game of golf.

My sincere condolences to the family. Breaks mt heart to hear of Tom's passing. We first met at the Syracuse recruitment center going into the Army. We were surprised to end up going to basic together and became close friends. We shared many laughs together and even took our first leave home from basic together. It's unfortunate that over the years we lost contact with one another. I will cherish the fond memories we did share. Rest In Peace my friend.
