Wayne D. Koder

1948 - 2023

Wayne D. Koder, formerly of Rome, NY, went home to Heaven on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the age of 74 in Citrus Heights, CA. Born February 12, 1948, he was the son of Charles D. Koder and Ida Marcoccia Koder. He moved to California where he graduated high school, then returned to New York and worked for the State school as a therapy aid for many years, as he was passionate about working with disabled children. In the 70s, he opened Nature's Apparel & Things, where he was able to live his dream of creating unique pieces of art, whether it be beautiful candles or stunning panes of stained glass, on West Dominick Street in Rome with longtime friend Steven DeRuby. Wayne was a creative songwriter, singing and playing guitar with his friends in his early years. But what he cherished the most were his daughters and grandchildren, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a compassionate and loving father, grandfather and uncle.

Wayne is survived by his dear mother, Ida Koder of California; his beloved daughters, Lainya (Rob) Hinckley of Ava, Asha (Steve) Zammiello of Utica; beloved grandchildren, Noah Hinckley, Justin Zammiello, Julia Hinckley and Isla Zammiello; brother, Marc (Nancy) Koder; and sisters, Donna (Rafael) Cancino and Karen (Roger) Lehman of CA. Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he thought of as his children; and great-nieces and nephews of CA; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins of Rome. He was predeceased by his father, Charles D. Koder, and great-nephews, Hayden Shell and Koa Villanueva.

Per Wayne's wishes, he was cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Services have been entrusted to Blue Oaks Cremation in Roseville, CA.
