Alice VanDyke Obituary
Alice B. Van Dyke, 82, of Rockford, passed away June 7, 2016. Alice was born August 25, 1933, in Rockford, the daughter of William Earl Ford and Ethel (Morell) Ford. Alice married Samuel Van Dyke on August 6, 1982, in Rockford, Illinois. She was employed at Swedish American Hospital as a unit clerk in the ER for 23 years. Alice is survived by her husband, Samuel; daughter, Denise (Dennis) Suhr; stepsons, Samuel (Debbie) Van Dyke III, and John Van Dyke; sisters, Carol (Les) Johnson, Judy LeGault; granddaughter, Angelina Waldron; grandsons, Brian Ling, Tim Ling; great-granddaughters, Annika Waldron, Aubrey Ling; stepdaughter, Michelle; sister-in-law, Donna Van Dyke-Tacker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; son, Rick LeGault; daughters, Diane Ling and Christine Ross; and sister, Mary Gendreau.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave., Rockford, IL, with Reverend Joyce Cosman officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm. Thursday, June 9, at Fred C. Olson Chapel. To share a memory or send a condolence, visit olsonfh.com

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of Alice.She was a very strong woman and loved her family dearly.I had the privilege of knowing her and will always cherish the memories I have,some good,some bad.I must say that she was a rock for her children over and over again.She made lots of sacrifices and if she thought you were right she would stand behind you 100% she was the dearest mother,grandmother,great grandmother,the kindest friend,loving,thoughtful..gentle and true.Always willing to do whatever she could to be there for you.God bless you Alice,you will be missed by many,but have left so many fond memories for all to cherish.Expressing Heartfelt Sympathy to the entire family.
