ALVERTA K. IRWIN, 95 ROCKFORD - Alverta K. Irwin, 95, of Rockford died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, in Fairhaven Christian Retire-ment Home. Born June 29, 1914, in Rockford, the daughter of Walter I. and Nellie K. (Richards) Roland. Married Russell H. Irwin on Aug. 16, 1936, in Rockford; he died April 19, 2003. Member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir. She played the violin in high school and sang with Rockford Women's Choir. Alverta worked for many years as a secretary at Rockford Memorial Hospital credit office. Survived by son, Robert (Mary Anne) Irwin of Rockford; grandchildren, Michael (Tracy) Wallin, Kris (Tim) Carlson, Kelly (Scott) Schmitz, Brad Irwin and Todd (Suzette) Irwin; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty Kush, Eleanor Roland and Delores Kepner. Predeceased also by daughter, Patricia, and brothers, LeRoy and Clifford Roland. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Fairhaven.
