Beverly Anderson Obituary

BEVERLY JEAN 'BEV' ANDERSON, 80 ROSCOE - A local golfer has played her last round of golf, but not before achieving two holes-in-ones and two eagles. Beverly Jean "Bev" Anderson, 80, of Roscoe passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, in her home, surrounded by family. Born March 16, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of Willard and Pauline (Rose) Erickson. Bev married her high school sweetheart, Ronald L. Anderson Sr., on Dec. 15, 1950, in Rockford. Bev always had a hug for anyone who entered her home and an undying love for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was smart, witty, a great athlete, fabulous cook, barbershop singer and she loved a good crossword puzzle. She could have done many things with her life, but she chose to dedicate herself to her family. She taught us to live life to the fullest, be happy, hug often, make sure you have no regrets, and treat everyone you meet with compassion and respect. We will miss her sense of humor and her absolutely delicious peanut butter cookies. We know we now have a special angel in heaven watching over us. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Ron; sons, Ronald L. Anderson Jr. of Darien, Wis., and Randy Anderson of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Lori (Mike) Bryant of Tucson and Lynn (Jay) Olexy of Westminster, Md.; grandchildren, Chase and Tanner Bryant and Hannah and Madelynn Olexy; sisters, Barbara Simmonds of Rockford and Betty Martenson of Loves Park; many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Predeceased by her parents; sister, Phyllis Riggs; and brother, Gene Erickson. Special thanks to Hospice Care of America, especially Jeanene "Jenni" and Barb, for their care and compassion during Bev's illness. Service at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time; Pastor Jason Turner, chaplain of Hospice Care of America, will officiate. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Care of America, 3815 N. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61114, or American Cancer Society, 4312 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61108. Ron, Ronnie & Mary, Randy, Laurie & Mike, Lynn & Jay, Chase, Tanner, Hannah and Maddie,

We will miss "Grandma" Bev very much. She always had a container of peanut butter cookies for us. Jordan loved to go visit her as she always had a cookie for him and found some kind of toy in her basement to play with. She will always be in our hearts and memories. Much hugs to you all at this time.
Love,
Raffi, Wendy and Jordan
