Bonnie Belle Markuson, 86, of Rockford passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016. Born May 28, 1930, in Rockford to George Edwin and Beatrice Lillian (Cassidy) Briggs. A graduate of East High School, Class of 1947. Married Thomas Roger Markuson in Rockford on June 25, 1949, they were married for 67 years. Bonnie was employed as the secretary to the president of Swedish American Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Creekwood Baptist Church; former member of Carousel Dance Club, and Cotillion Dance Club. She enjoyed knitting, reading, writing poems, bowling, traveling to Florida and Lake Waubesa, and floating down the Rock River on their pontoon "Bonnie Belle II". Most of all, Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Survivors include husband, Thomas Markuson; son, Scott (JoAnn) Markuson; daughter, Wendi Fosberg; grandchildren, Aaron (Sara) Markuson, Troy Smolinski, Nick (Michele) Fosberg, Valerie (Jeffrey) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Moriah, Leighton, Keiley, Nevaeh, Kaya, Isaiah, Elijah, Jeffrey, Aubrey, Tori, Devon; sister, Beverly Briggs (Ken) Wilson; special-in-laws, Janis Markuson, Brad Fosberg, Don "Smo" Smolinski, Don Harris. Predeceased by parents, George Briggs and Beatrice Cassidy–Briggs; and sister, Barbara Harris. Special thanks to our Aunt Marlene; caregivers, Tosha and Kim; and Heartland Hospice for their amazing care of Bonnie Belle.
A visitation will be held at 11 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at noon Saturday, July 30, 2016, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N.
