It's a very sad day for all who knew Carl Dargene to learn of his passing. He was such a great man and leader that words cannot express enough. While working at Amerock I was very fortunate. Carl seemed to take a personal interest in me and would frequently stop and take me aside to just chat for a few minutes when he was in the plant. I felt extremely fortunate when on a few occasions he would call me and invite me to come to his office and just talk. Not about work but just to talk. I knew, when I left his office on those occasions that if only 10% of Carl rubbed off on me I was a much better person. Carl exemplified the phrase 'a leader among men' to the fullest. Carl's leadership groomed and developed many others under his direction, such as Maurie Johnson, Dick Shrode, Larry Gloyd, Jim Waddell and a host of others to become great leaders, Presidents and CEO's of their own great companies in their own rite. Carl Dargene was good for Rockford, good for Amerock, Good for Anchor Hocking and good for Amcore and any and all who knew him.
