Carol Spoden

CAROL K. SPODEN, 67 BELVIDERE - Carol K. Spoden, 67, of Belvidere passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born July 10, 1943, in Harvard, the daughter of Olaf and Helen (Mathison) Nelson. She attended North Boone High School. Married Kenneth A. Spoden on Aug. 18, 1962, in Capron. Carol retired from Chrysler Corp. in 2001 after working as an assembler there for 31 years. Member of UAW Local 1268. Carol was an avid Bears fan and enjoyed shopping, cooking and going to casinos. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Survivors include husband, Kenneth A. Spoden of Belvidere; son, Kenny T. (Julie) Spoden of Belvidere; daughter, Wendy (Chandler) Klatt of Belvidere; grandchildren, Ashley and Shania Spoden, Andrea Fiepke and Shawnee Klatt; brother, Gordon (Doris) Nelson of Caledonia; sisters, Darlene (Tom) Greer of Harvard, Bonnie (Gale) Kunde of Belvidere. Predeceased by parents; brothers, Bob Nelson and Harlan Nelson; sisters, Irene Niday and Betty Elliott. The family would like to thank the staff of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, OSF Cancer Center and Maplecrest Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care. Service at noon Monday, Nov. 8, in Belvidere Funeral Home, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Eugene Wille, pastor emeritus of Immanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment in Belvidere Cemetery.
