Charlene Erikson Obituary
Charlene A. Erikson, 88, of Rockford IL, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 in her home. She was born April 7, 1928, in Rockford, where she lived all her life. She graduated from East High School, then attended Valparaiso University, where she graduated in 1951 with a B.S. degree in Psychology and Sociology. Charlene was involved in the Rockford community, serving for many years on the board and as a member of Rockford Women's Club. She was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and a former member of Forest Hills Country Club. She enjoyed Rockford's gardens, especially her own and Anderson Gardens. She is succeeded by her children, Mark Erikson, Sharon Erikson and Carla Erikson, and her grandchildren, Taylor Britton and Ginsie Britton.
It was Charlene's wish to have a private burial. Char was a generous and kind neighbor for many years. She always bought anything our young daughter was selling for school fundraising events and handed out great Halloween treats.
When our daughter was growing up, she loved hanging handmade May Baskets on Char's front door. We will always remember Char's warm smile and friendly wave. Our sympathy to her family.
