DANN R. WHIPPLE, 69 STILLMAN VALLEY - Dann R. Whipple, 69, of Stillman Valley, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford. He was born September 21, 1944, in Oregon, IL; the son of Harold and Edith (Allen) Whipple. He married Eileen Oltmanns on December 7, 1963; she passed away on January 17, 2013. Dann worked as a truck driver and was part of the Teamsters Local 325. He also was a farmer and farmed the family farm in the Byron area with his brother. In his spare time, Dann enjoyed singing karaoke. Survivors include his son, Matthew Whipple of Leaf River; siblings, Earl (Pat) Whipple of Byron, Thelma Collins of Freeport, and Phyliss (Danny) Jeans of Poughkeepsie, AR; granddaughter, Megan Whipple; and fiancée, Sheila Strand of Kirkland. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Harry Whipple; and brother-in-law, Dick Collins. Dann was a loving, kind, honest, generous, and at times stubborn man who will be loved and missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron, with Pastor Randy Snider of First Baptist Church of Byron officiating.
