Donald Whitchurch Obituary
Donald Gene Whitchurch, 81, formally of Cherry Valley, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, in Naples, FL. Donald was born July 20, 1934 in Centralia, IL; the son of Trula and Roy Whitchurch. Donald was a 1954, graduate of Belvidere High School, where he played football and baseball. He married the love of his life, Caroline Yardley on January 28, 1956. They celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage on January 3, 2016, with their family before returning to Naples, FL. Don was President of Cardon and Associates, a manufacturer representative. Don was a member of the Belvidere Blue Lodge Masonic, enjoyed woodworking, loved nature, and especially growing orchids. Don had a love for music, Frank Sinatra was his favorite, and his family was everything to him. He is survived by his wife, Caroline; daughters; Pamela (Kevin) Billo, Bonnie (Bruce) Brandon, and Sharon (Randy) Byerley; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many special friends. Donald is predeceased by parents; brother, Bill and sister, Bernice.
Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016, in Christ the Rock Lutheran Church, 8330 Newburg Rd. Rockford, IL with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to The Celebration of Life in the church. Pastor Timothy Frick ,officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Christ the Rock Lutheran Church or Rockford Salvation Army Temple Corps, 500 S. Rockford, IL 61104.
